I happened to be at On Off Digital World yesterday and a sudden sense of nostalgia hit me. You see, the store reminded me of them “mom-and-pop” sort of joints from my childhood, back in the days of the best-selling Commodore 64. I can still see the ad for one of those C-64 system bundles in computer magazines of the time, bargains that contained peripherals and software. Those were the days! Big five-inch-plus floppy diskettes, disk drivess about the same size as the computer itself, clunky box-like CRTs that weighed about forty pounds at least with small fifteen-inch screens! Really fabulous software then, too — and I mean fun, considering all the programmers had to work with was a mere 64KB! The ’80s were really something in every way, but most notably when it comes to matters of personal computing!
